  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm OR 9am-5pm
  • Pay: $18/hour
  • Full time, TEMPORARY, 3-5 months

Job Description:

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:    

Under general supervision, is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate completion of all client benefit applications for temporary public assistance (OTDA), Medicaid and Congregate Care Revenue which include the submission of all required documentation and handling any necessary follow-up to ensure the Agency is able to bill for services rendered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assures accurate and timely completion of all our residential clients benefit applications for NYC HRA public assistance and Department of Social Services for all counties.
  • Expedites submission of all documentation that is required from funding sources for all re-certifications.
  • Interviews Social Security recipients for payee representative change while in our program.
  • Processes submission of documentation for SSD/SSI determinations.
  • Maintains HRA STARS tracking for Agency clients.
  • Enroll clients into Medicaid Managed Care to ensure Medicaid billing for 820 services provided by the agency.
  • Handles ongoing facility related interaction with Directors/Case Managers regarding clients’ benefits and financial status.
  • Maintains a client benefit caseload for the facility and provides up to date information in Avatar.
  • Assists clients in obtaining applicable identification required for obtaining benefits.
  • Provides weekly and monthly benefits status reports to Director of Client Benefits.
  • Posts monthly Congregate Care Revenue in Avatar to properly record payments.
  • Update all benefit statuses in Avatar for all cases that have been approved and denied.
  • Work at residential OASAS sites when needed to process benefit applications for newly admitted clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Graduate or GED is required.  At least two years of college is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience with various public assistance systems and filing.

  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Good organizational skills
  • Is comfortable with our residential population that is in our program for substance abuse treatment
